Age Concern Winter Celebration Grant 11/12/09

Age Concern and Help the Aged aim to promote the wellbeing of older people in the United Kingdom, and involve them in all aspects of society. From Spring 2010, the charity will be known as Age UK.

Objectives of the Grant Scheme

The scheme aims to provide grant funding towards the cost of winter celebration activities organised by voluntary and charitable clubs for older people in the UK.

Available Funding/Support Grants of up to £500 are available.

Match Funding

If an application is felt to be overly expensive, then a part-grant may be offered on the basis that the remainder of the necessary funds will be found from another source.

Eligible Activities

Grants are available towards the cost of winter celebrations, outings or one-off events.

Examples of eligible activities include the following:

  • Theatre trips.
  • Day outings.
  • Parties.
  • Dinners.

Grants must be used for specific items and not a contribution to general funds.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

Applicants must:

  • be a voluntary or charitable club for older people in the UK;
  • have charitable objectives similar to those of Age Concern and Help the Aged;
  • have an annual turnover of less than £50,000;
  • have a certain independence, eg run by their own committee and not part of a larger organisation; and
  • be a properly established group with a set of rules and their own bank or building society account.

EXCLUSIONS

Grants are not available for the following:

  • Replacement of worn out/obsolete equipment.
  • Events/activities that have already happened.
  • Individuals.

APPLICATION

Deadline(s): Deadline for applications: 11 December 2009.

Application forms are available from the funding provider’s website.

Completed application forms will be accepted by e-mail or fax, but hard copies must also be mailed to the charity as original signatures are required.

Applications will be assessed as they are received and applicants will be informed whether they have been successful within 10 working days.
