Area Property Reviews across Carmarthenshire 27/09/10

Posted on Friday, August 20, 2010

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Asset Review Team within the Corporate Property Division will be undertaking Area Property Reviews across Carmarthenshire over the next 12 months.

The purpose of these reviews is to ensure that the Council is making the best use of its property assets. It will involve investigating the potential for joint working with our partners such as Hywel Dda Local Health Board, Town & Community Councils, Dyfed Powys Police Authority, Higher Education, voluntary and community groups etc.

The review will allow an opportunity for relevant parties to contribute towards analysis of whether use of assets can be increased to meet wider community needs, if services can be delivered in alternative ways (or locations) and the potential for joint use of assets to reduce the overall cost of running public sector properties in the area.

The reviews will assist in helping to identify the potential for reducing the ongoing revenue costs of facilities in the area and identify investment needs, where appropriate, to ensure retained stock is fit for purpose. In addition it is hoped that the reviews will highlight surplus or underperforming property for disposal or alternative uses.

The next Area Review will take place on the:

  • 27th September at the Lliedi Suite, Selwyn Samuel Centre, Llanelli
  • 9.30am – 12.30pm (Registration for 9am)

I would like to extend an invite to you on behalf of the Asset Review team to come along and find out more about what we are going to be doing and to also allow you an opportunity to influence the future use and provision of assets in Carmarthenshire.
