Carmarthenshire Carers Project produces and distributes carers information, signposts people who are caring to sources of help and support through a telephone service, and facilitates the Carers Alliance. It is through the Carers Alliance that carers are encouraged to participate in the planning, development and review of services.
The Carers Project works closely with the Joint Carers Development Officer.
Carers News
A quarterly newsletter Carers News is sent out to individual carers, GP practices, Citizens Advice Bureaus, day centres and voluntary organisations. Through the newsletter we aim to pass on information to carers and those they care for on policy issues, services and organisations that may be of help to them.
If you have any ideas, articles or contributions for the next edition of the Carers News please feel free to contact us, we particularly welcome contributions from carers and past carers.
If you would like to receive a hardcopy of the newsletter and are happy for your name to be on the confidential mailing list, please ring the Carers Project on 01267 236436 or email carers@cavs.org.uk.

- Llanelli: CAVS Office, John St. – 12th June 2008
- Ammanford: Pensioners’ Hall – 13th June 2008

Carers Rights Day
The aims of Carers' Rights Day are to:
- Increase the take up of benefits
- Ensure that carers access their rights under relevant legislation
- Raise awareness of the needs of carers
- Help individuals recognise themselves as carers
- Increase older carers take-up of Pension Credit
The Carers Alliance also welcomes the day as an opportunity to let carers know what support is already available in Carmarthenshire; to look at service developments; to ask carers what they think of the services they are receiving and ask what else they think should be available.
Carers Rights Day is held every December.
If you would like to come along, please phone the Carers Project on 01267 236436 or email carers@cavs.org.uk for more information. Replacement care and transport can be arranged.
