The course Communicating through Touch will be held on June 23 at The Learning Disability Office in Cardiff.

This one day workshop will help those that care for someone with an Autism Spectrum Disorder use touch to help communication, relaxation and the relief of stress and anxiety.

The techniques you will learn during this workshop will help you and the person you care for engage and communicate together, relieve stress and feel more positive.

The techniques explored on this course centre on touch, communication and relaxation and will be useful tools that carers and parents can use in everyday situations.

Course includes:

  • how to build up trust before touch is introduced
  • intensive interaction
  • specific techniques to engage with someone with ASD using voice, sound and touch
  • effects of music
  • guidelines for appropriate use of touch and holistic massage.

The course is designed for Parents and carers of someone who has an Autistm Spectrum Disorder.
