Activities: Carmarthenshire Young Carers Service supports young people who are caring for a parent/sibling who have an illness or disability or mental health issue or substance misuse. We aim to give a break from their caring role and give practical, relevant advice as needed. The service offers intensive 1-1 support for the young people, group work sessions which are tailored to meet specific needs, youth clubs in localised areas, holiday activities, peer support, We also work in liaison with schools to raise awareness of young carers and sibling carers. Anyone can refer into the service, although we do require parental consent to work with a young person. Provision of a range of supportive interventions, based on assessments and agreed action plans and contracts with individual young carers.
