Expression of interest: Pilot study, internet use and older people

Carmarthenshire County Council and Carmarthenshire Local Health Board are seeking to develop a project with the voluntary sector or other sectors to encourage older people to use the internet and technology based methods of shopping.

As an initial pilot it is proposed that computer and internet access is available to tenants within 2 local authority sheltered housing: Llwyn Yr Ynys Llwynhendy and Bryn Tawel Tumble.

  • Develop competence in the use of a networked computer
  • “Assisted on line shopping” with a member of staff to visit a client with a lap top computer.
  • Training in the use of Email to maintain social contacts
  • Developing peer trainers with interested older people

Deadline for expressions of interest 21 September 2009.
