Information from Race Alliance Wales:

As we draw closer to the next Senedd Elections for Wales, we would like to bring your attention to Race Alliance Wales’ Manifesto for an Anti-Racist Wales – From Rhetoric to RealityEnglish Version   Welsh Version

We are inviting you, in your individual or organisational capacities, to formally endorse this Manifesto ahead of the upcoming elections.(Click here to complete our online endorsement form)

As you know, inequalities across many sectors of society in Wales persist, and have been clearly highlighted during 2020 with the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on BAME communities, as well as the resurgence of Black Lives Matter, highlighting the institutional racism that impacts Black, Asian and other ethnic minority people across the world, including Wales. We wish to see these longstanding inequalities addressed without delay, in a pragmatic manner, going beyond rhetoric, to reality.

Our Manifesto makes 69 specific recommendations, focused on key topics of: individual and institutional racism; education; employment and socio-economic inequality; representation in public and political life; health and housing. By enacting these recommendations, Wales can begin its journey towards becoming an anti-racist nation, a leader in the world. As we see the Socio-Economic Duty enacted in Wales, supported by the Public Sector Equality Duty, we believe the time is now to start working proactively to challenge and stop racism. Looking forward to the UK Examination of the UN International Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, by endorsing and giving due attention to the elements in our manifesto, Wales will stand as an exemplary devolved nation when we speak to the United Nations on this.

We shall be launching our Manifesto on the 30th September 2020, in  online event from 10.15am -11.45am, with Chief Whip and Deputy Minister Jane Hutt MS in attendance. We would be honoured to have you there, showcasing your direct support.
