Posted on Wednesday, July 15, 2009

learnwithgrandmaThe National Botanic Garden of Wales and ‘Learn with Grandma’ hope that you will come and join in the fun on Grandparents’ Day on 7 August - an intergenerational learning day.

We aim to get grandparents, and their grandkids, playing and learning together. There will be a host of activities to do and lots to learn about – plenty of fun for people of all ages. Please do pass this message on to all the grandparents you know – mums and dads are welcome too!

Learn with Grandma (a not for profit company reg no 05913133.) aims to encourage respect between the generations; to help instil a love of learning; to help create lasting memories and to have FUN!

botgardens-150You can learn more about plants at The National Botanic Gardens – which plants are good, easy starters for children to grow; a local herbalist will talk about the wild food that can be eaten; and you can learn how to make a bug hotel and much more. The National Botanic Gardens want your help too to add to an archive of herbal and home remedies.

Valerie Wood-Gaiger MBE (who co-founded Learn with Grandma) will sign her books; and she and other grannies, will talk about how to make the best use of the time spent with grandchildren – to pass on skills – how the older generation can learn from the youngsters!

There will be lots family activities to enjoy and learn together.
