Millennium Volunteers

Millennium Volunteers

We have been informed that the Millennium Volunteers scheme is coming to an end in December this year. With this in mind, if you have any young people who have reached the 50,100 or 200 hours can you please send in the information to us by no later than Monday December 17th 2018.

We are working as a region (Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, Powys)  to see if a similar scheme can be developed and will keep you informed of any developments. In the meantime, we have been told that young people are to register on www.volunteering-wales.net to log their hours where they can have virtual badges/certificates when they reach certain levels of hours. They can earn digital achievement badges for 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 hours.

There is the ability to download a ‘certificate’ at any point for volunteers, which be useful for people that might need to evidence they have started volunteering. WCVA are exploring options to see if this ‘certificate’ could be printed off by an organisation and presented to the volunteer in a more formal way, such as at a presentation evening.

To use the system, your organisation/project would need to register as an organisation and upload its volunteering opportunities. Your young people would then register as volunteers and ‘JOIN’ the opportunity. Once this is done, they can log their hours in all the places they volunteer and these would be counted towards the achievement of the digital awards. We can help you get started on the system and whoever was responsible for verifying your MV hours, could maybe take responsibility for that on this system. If further help is needed with this, please let me know.
