National IT Volunteering Awards 2008
iT4Communities (iT4C), has launched the National IT Volunteering Awards 2008 and is inviting nominations from all UK charities and IT volunteers.iT4C is a programme of the Information Technologists’ Company, and is the lead national IT volunteering charity that introduces volunteer IT professionals to charities needing help and support. The awards are supported by the British Computer Society (BCS) and appiChar, a leading IT consultancy to the Not for Profit Sector, the Awards will recognise and celebrate the UK’s best and most successful IT volunteering projects.
The ceremony takes place at the BCS London offices in London on Thursday February 19th 2009 where the winning charities will each receive their £500 prize.
Charities and volunteers can nominate via the website www.it4communities.org.uk by 19th December 2008 in any or all of the 4 categories: Best IT Volunteer, Best IT Volunteering Project – Impact on Organisations, Innovation and Accessibility.
John Davies, iT4C Programme Manager, said: “IT volunteers make a huge difference to the charities who need their expert help. Without volunteer support many organisations cannot afford IT expertise and suffer on the wrong side of the digital divide.”
