Carmarthenshire Play Strategy

Carmarthenshire County Council is committed to ensuring that every child and young person living in Carmarthenshire has access to exciting, stimulating and creative play experiences by providing both supervised and unsupervised quality play provision that gives opportunities for challenge.

The Carmarthenshire Play Strategy and Action Plan aims to make the case for a more co-ordinated approach to play, by setting out a range of recommendations that can be used by Carmarthenshire County Council, statutory, voluntary and private sector organisations to improve play opportunities for children and young people aged 0-25 yrs across the county.

By working in partnership with these organisations as well as parents, carers, children and young people, the strategy shows a commitment to ensuring that all children and young people have access to a range of varied, stimulating and fun play environments, which are free from unacceptable risk, embrace diversity and encourage inclusion of all children.

The consultation period for the Play Strategy will run from 18th March 2008 to 29th April 2008.

Please find below a downloadable copy of the Carmarthenshire Play Strategy and an accompanying questionnaire.

Spatial Plan imagePeople, Places, Futures: The Wales Spatial Plan 2008 Update Consultation

A consultation on the Wales Spatial Plan Update 2008: People Places Futures is running for 12 weeks from 31st January to 24th April 2008.

The document sets a vision for how each part of Wales should develop economically, socially and environmentally over the next 20 years and will guide the way the Assembly Government spends its money over the coming years.

A huge amount of cross-sector and partnership working has seen real progress made against the goals identified in the first Spatial Plan in 2004.

It has helped achieve a joined up approach to complex issues such as transport, housing and settlement patterns for the first time, leading to more effective use of public finance.

The Wales Spatial Plan update has also been subject to Sustainability Appraisal, which meets the needs of the 'Strategic Environmental Assessment' Directive. The Sustainability Appraisal, which is a separate document, also forms part of the Consultation.

The consultation documents and response forms are available from the Welsh Assembly website

Carmarthenshire Partnership logoDraft Children and Young People’s Plan 2008-11

The Children and Young People’s Partnership was established at the end of 2006 in response to the statutory requirement contained in the Children Act 2004. Its key responsibility is to improve the outcomes for children and young people (aged 0-25) across Carmarthenshire and implement the single Children and Young People’s Plan 2008 – 2011.

Instead of having lots of plans for children and young people aged 0-25 we will soon have just one single Children and Young People’s Plan. There will no longer be a requirement for many of the other plans we currently produce, for example, the Social Services Childrens Services Plan, the Single Education Plan or the Children and Young Peoples Framework Partnership Plan.

We cannot write this plan without your views. Last year in preparation we conducted a comprehensive analysis of service provision and need via Pricewaterhouse Coopers which involved many families, children, young people and service providers across the county. We have also made good use of the information already available.

The draft single Children and Young People’s Plan has been written by a multi-agency partnership group and will be broadly consulted on between January and March 2008. It is really important for us to have your views as the single Children and Young People’s Plan will come into force from September 2008.
