Green Sea (Beach Improvement) forms a part of the Coastal Tourism project, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the West Wales and the Valleys Convergence programme 2007-13. The objective of Green Sea (Beach Improvement) is to ensure the quality of beaches around the coast of the Convergence area of Wales is maintained and improved in order to meet growing visitor expectations. Green Sea will make a contribution to successful applications towards investment in improvements to the coastal environment such as access, parking, facilities, recycling, toilets, amenities, information and interpretation.

The Building the Future Together ESF project is primarily aimed at providing a comprehensive suite of options and interventions to develop the skills needed for learning and future employment, raise aspirations, and support the emotional and social needs of 11 – 19 year olds in Rhondda Cynon Taf. Pursuant of these aims is the requirement to implement an Online Pupil Literacy and Numeracy Screening Test to measure pupils in Year 7 and 9 verbal, non-verbal and quantitative abilities in order to identify strengths and weaknesses, needs and learning preferences. The test would be required for approximately 6000 pupils, i.e 3000 in Year 7 and 3000 in Year 9. The system must be fully implemented by September 2010.

Within The Heads of the Valley area there has been a strategic project, named ”JobMatch”, running for the last 3 years which engages with disadvantaged clients and moves them from inactivity into economic activity by providing opportunities for training, volunteering, work experience, employment and career development. The project was previously developed and piloted in Blaenau Gwent and was approved for rollout across the Head of the Valley area. This contract is for the delivery of Renewables Training for JobMatch Employment Routes. Under this Service the Contractor is required to participate actively in the economic and Social Regeneration of the locality and surrounding the place of delivery for the Service. Accordingly contract performance decisions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations.

1) What we are looking for:
- An organisation to develop a learning programme to train chefs in developing and delivering a menu based on traditional Welsh cuisine and locally sourced ingredients. The learning programme will contain interactive materials (such as DVDs) to help chefs acquire the skills and knowledge required.
2) Background
- There is a shortage of skilled chefs working in Wales. There are not enough new chefs entering industry to meet the skills challenge. We need to find ways to raise and/or broaden the skills of chefs in work and at college
- The Welsh Assembly is placing increasing importance on hotels, restaurants, pubs, etc including traditional Welsh dishes on their menus. This is coupled with a drive to raise awareness of ingredients sourced within Wales.

- People 1st is introducing a customer service programme to help staff working in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector develop excellent customer service and ‘sense of place’ skills.
- The programme is based on the WorldHost programme which was successfully used to deliver customer service/sense of place training recently at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. It is highly interactive, uses up to date learning resources and moves at a pace that retains and stimulates the learner. It is delivered in one day.
