Enhancing Learning Coach Provision for Young People in Wales through the Development of New Training and Resources

This contract is part of the Reach the Heights project, a European Social Fund Project led by the Welsh Assembly Government. The contract comprises a package of lots that aim to enhance learning coach provision for young people in Wales through the development of new resources and training. The aim of each of the lots is outlined below. You may bid for any or all of the lots separately.

Lot 1 – Develop new learning coach training packages

The successful contractor will be required to develop new learning coach training materials at Level 3 and Level 4. The aim is to provide a greater emphasis on meeting the needs of young people by providing support and guidance, and coaching and mentoring to learners to help them plan their individual pathway, make informed choices, identify goals and then support their progress.

The duration of this contract will be 6 months, and during this period the successful contractor will be required to design and develop training materials in preparation for delivery. These training packages will need to fit within the Assembly Government developed National Learning Coach Training Programme.

Lot 2 – Delivery of existing and new learning coach training packages to practitioners delivering the learning coach function

The successful contractor will be required to demonstrate how they will roll out the delivery of training, working in collaboration with the client and 14-19 Learning Networks, to deliver existing and new learning coach training packages to practitioners who will be delivering the learning coach function. There are currently over 600 practitioners from a range of educational settings who have been trained on the National Learning Coach Training Programme.

The successful contractor will also work with the 14-19 Learning Networks to arrange training for new cohorts of learning coaches. The duration of this contract will be 24 months.

Lot 3 – Delivery of learning coach training packages with those working with harder to reach groups, as identified below.

The successful contractor will be required to demonstrate how they will deliver existing and new learning coach training packages to those working with harder to reach groups of young people.

The duration of the contract will be 24 months. This will be achieved by working in collaboration with the client, 14-19 Learning Networks and stakeholders to identify the target groups that meet local priorities. Examples of these target groups, although not exclusive, might include SEN young people outside the maintained sector, gypsy travellers and young offenders.
