Description of the contract
The COSTAL Project are seeking to invite suitably qualified organisations to tender for the delivery of an Independent Travel Training Course to assist adults with a learning disability to be able to use public transport.
Tenders must be returned NO LATER than the closing time of 12 noon on Friday 14th August 2009.
The COSTAL Project is a regional project involving the City and County of Swansea, who are acting as the lead sponsor, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Neath Port Talbot. The project aims at the promotion of vocational, employment, skills training and lifelong learning opportunities for individuals who are currently economically inactive as a result of illness, disability (Mental Illness, Learning Disability, Physical Disability, and Sensory Impairment), substance misuse problems and/or the serious social disadvantage associated with the transition from long-term care into adulthood.
It has been recognised that the essential part of being able to enter and sustain employment is the ability to travel to the place of work or training. Therefore the COASTAL Project is seeking an organisation that can provide training and the appropriate resource material for project staff to be competent in teaching and supporting people with a learning disability in using public transport.
Applicants will be required to deliver the training across any of the four local authority areas. Training venues will be provided by the hosting local authority.
