West Wales Walking for Wellbeing : Walking vs COVID
West Wales Walking for Wellbeing (WWWfW) project aims to develop and deliver a programme of ‘walking for wellbeing’ opportunities in West Wales that is community based, sustainable, and embraces a social prescribing model which seeks to connect to primary health care at a local level.
The Power of Walking vs COVID:
As part of the Paths for All Expert Lecture, Dr William Bird talks about the benefits of walking including how walking and physical activity could help in the fight against COVID-19.
“When my patients ask me, how can I not get Covid, walking is one of the things we can offer.
When we start to contract the muscles with a brisk walk, we create natural killer cells which can mop up the virus before it gets into the body.
So walking and being active is incredibly important.”
In Carmarthen: West Wales Walking for Wellbeing Coordinator Adam Hearne explores Cwmoernant Ponds.
